               RI-252i-A 'Definition of Reality'

from Ron's Inspector

Message # RI-252i-A for Internet

The definition of 'Reality'
 used in
RI-252i 'WHO in OSA ordered Internet's a.r.s. destroyed?'
 of 5 Aug 1995 is:

   "That what IS there,
     whether agreed upon or not,
     whether seen or not,
     whether known or not.
    It is what IS THERE."

This is LRH's definition of 'Reality'
 in Professional Auditor's Bulletin 44:

   "Reality is composed
of the degree of duplication possible,
    and this is also describable
     under the heading of agreement.
    Reality is a quality
     which depends upon duplication
    and in the action
of duplication expertly or poorly done
     we find agreement and disagreement."

Now, how does this apply to the Internet.
What are the realities
of some people here in the Usenet newsgroups,
 on Internet.

The reality of Tony McClelland is
that he is only himself when he is not himself.
So he has to ask questions
not as himself but as 'not himself'.

And any efforts of another to make him be himself,
or to try and find out what he himself actually wants,
 he considers 'mindcontrol' or 'brainwashing'.
Because what he himself really wants and likes
must remain hidden forever also to himself.
That is why he is a member of 'Cult Awareness Network' or such.

This is his reality, as an example.

The reality of Dennis Erlich is
that he has to hide his past
and that he has to justify
  his present life intentions
of having no actual true liking for people, for instance.

That's an example of another reality.

The reality of some others, besides Erlich, is
that they want to create as much confusion as possible,
and that they try to enforce that confusion upon others
by doing as if they ask others questions
to unconfuse the confusion they want to be there.

In other words, they WANT to bring about confusion only,
 and their questions are not
in order to have truthful answers at all!
As such answers would be lessening confusion,
they then go and confuse the truthful answers they get.
That's the reality of quite some people here.

The reality of some other people is
that they just want to fight others,
and they just want that others fight others.

That's their reality:
 One can only be oneself
when one fights all realities which are different.
And as no two people exist who
have all their realities the same,
 they constantly have to fight
'in order to keep their own sanity'.

Still others have the reality
that they just want to be entertained.
They would also read a detective story.
Their reality is
that what they read or write here
has no more reality than a detective story.

Some others have the reality
that they are very very angry about something,
 when they are ex-Scientologists,
  they usually fight David Miscavige.
It doesn't matter whether Miscavige is gone.
It doesn't matter that they feel
they are fighting LRH or Koos.
Their reality,
though unknown to them and to the people around them,
is that they are fighting David Miscavige.

Then there are those who have the reality
that the Internet Usenet is a great game for
writing lies under false names or anonymously.
They have no further reality than enjoying that,
especially when it is taken seriously by some,
when some people 'bite' at their bait.

Then there are those who have the reality
that they can establish a group of people
 who together
oppose the reality of some individual or some other group,
in the hope to destroy other individuals' realities
   - meaning they hope to achieve
that others will give up their reality
or will "realize" their reality as invalid
when shown enough people opposing it.

In other words,
they try to dominate someone into
believing something, or into giving up a belief,
when he is shown enough people to disagree with him.

Interesting tricks here on Usenet are
one person using several fake addresses and fake names
posting several messages in different styles,
 to give the impression
that many people have an opposing viewpoint,
where in fact it is only one or two people
giving the impression, on the newsgroup,
that many people express a similar opinion.

They then can use all these messages,
which they wrote themselves but under various names,
to submit it as "proof" to someone else,
  "proof" that very many people
dislike the behaviour of the person written about,
and the "proof" should then move someone into action
  against that person,
or it should be "proof" that
  "everybody is against this person,
and that therefore he must be ousted,
   ignored or further invalidated."

This is a common tactic of, for instance,
Homer Wilson Smith. - That is an example of his reality.

So we encounter many realities on Usenet,
of which these are a few examples,
and the appropriate response would be
towards the actual reality of the person
whom one addresses or chooses not to address.

And that is the real "detective-game"
that would have any survival value,
 on Internet's Usenet newsgroups:

What is the ACTUAL TRUE reality
   of a person posting here?

And then there is something that should not be overlooked,
that is: the people who mostly don't post here.

Many of them belong to the eighty percent
 of reasonably sane people,
who can be sane and make sane decisions
when they are given correct and applicable data
about the tremendously valuable and tremendously useful
  body of data called 'Scientology'.
