RI-262i 'Creating despite Suppressive Persons'

because a Suppressive Person
might and could use it against me."
Whatever good and worthwhile and enjoyable
you create (or write)
Suppressive Persons will use it ANYWAY
to try and destroy you and others.
So, you thinking that one particular invention
or work of art or book or article written
could be used by a Suppressive Person
as a means of attacking you
or as a means of the Suppressive Person
using it to attack others
AND THEREFORE YOU DECIDING TO NOT CREATE IT,
is complete idiocy and
is a refusal to confront and admit
to the actual nature of a Suppressive Person:
A Suppressive Person uses ANYTHING
that is created by others who are decent,
constructive and good,
in order to
- with the decent things created by others -
destroy others.
So it is not a matter of not creating,
and it is not a matter of not making guns
- you might need them very well to stop Suppressive Persons,
as we see now in Bosnia (in the former Yugoslavia near Italy) -
but it IS SOLELY AND ONLY
a matter of
DETECTING actual Suppressive Persons -
which DETECTION ends criminality,
which DETECTION ends insanity, and
which DETECTION returns or secures prosperity and peace,

The truth is that Suppressive Persons
have everything totally in reverse.
Just create all the decent and constructive things you want,
and know that Suppressive Persons will always
try to prevent and invalidate and destroy it
in any way they can or are allowed to.
I am very sorry to maybe have to wake you up to the idea
that that happens to be the Universe we live in,
and the only way out is the way through it,
through detecting and confronting Suppressive Persons.
This may be very unpleasant news for you,
and you thought maybe that you would get around this,
and maybe you even try to solve it
by accusing Koos that he does not confront and detect
and remove Suppressive Persons FOR you
while leaving you totally out of it.
(These people accuse me of 'enturbulating them'
when I detect and point out a Suppressive Person).
No, the way out is the way through it!
You see, you just go on creating,
and
if a bunch of Suppressive Persons
manage to destroy or pervert twenty-five percent of your work,
then there is still seventy-five percent left
which they did NOT manage to destroy.
So if you write one book or one piece of music,
chances are very big that, on the way to the public,
some Suppressive Person will succeed in perverting it,
in making it ugly, or even in entirely stopping it.
But if you create a hundred symphonies,
- or, let's be modest in relation to Joseph Haydn -
if you create forty symphonies,
thirty-five will get through
without being perverted or stopped.
Did I make myself clear now?
You just create constructively and decently,
and if you can, also artistically,
and, while doing so,
you will certainly at one time or other
experience the fear that Suppressive Persons induce in you
to try and prevent you from creating, or in order
to try and prevent you from selling your creations,
so that it would already be stopped
before it reaches the public.
You just go on creating anyway.

The basic function of an Artist is
'to bring in ethics' in the group, in the society.
You talk with a somewhat sane Artist,
and you will find out
that in one way or another
he is trying 'to bring in ethics'
in some area of life, with his work.
Also, the society looks up to Artists
for ethics,
for guidance,
for 'the thing to do'.
People eagerly read about Artists in magazines:
What is his family life?
Which restaurant does he like?
What books does he prefer?
How does he dress?
etc.
Whether he is aware of it or not,
the function of an artist is
'to bring in ethics' in the society.
What is this 'bringing in ethics'?
It is making things more alive!
It is putting more truth there.
It is making life more interesting to live.
It is making things lighter.
It is creating more communication.
It is making things more real.
It is making life more fun.
AND THAT IS ETHICS.
Therefore, it easily can be understood that
any administrator or church-official
who
looks down on Artists,
or tries to cut down the influence of Artists,
or prevents them from becoming more able,
is killing his own group!
He will degrade Ethics
into becoming a police-function only
and
will use "ethics" mainly to assert
his power, his authority and his control.
If Artists are not aware
of the function and responsibility they have
in the society and towards the group, and
if they do not act
according to what responsibility
towards others they do have,
then
they leave themselves open
to all kinds of attacks and invalidations, and
- not having a correct viewpoint about themselves
from which to defend themselves -
they cave themselves in.
Therefore it is vital
that any Artist in any field of Art
knows his function in the society.
