 as a result of
   RI-402i 'Serenity makes you Right' of 10 Dec 95 and
   RI-403i 'Serenity helps to escape domination' of 10 Dec 95,
 which I think would help others to know.

"Serenity is a defense against pain, emotional or physical pain.

"Serenity is a resort when things get difficult,
  a place to reorder thinking and feeling.

"Serenity can be a useful, even necessary state, to
  contemplate spiritual realities.

"Serenity is a hiding place, where others can't find you,
  you become inaccessible to others at will.

"Serenity can result in having power over others,
  since if others reach to you, they can find or grasp nothing.

"Serenity is a way to win and get through life in a body.
  It is apathy about abilities, groups, humanity,
  trust and hope shattered.

"Among undesirable solutions, serenity is perceived to be better
  than violence or suicide.

"Serenity can be a way to enjoy or avoid intimacy with others,
  can be a wholesome fulfillment and celebration,
  or escape, hiding, running away from others.

"Serenity is a place to go, a state of consciousness,
  if I am disappointed, if circumstances look insurmountable,
  if I am overwhelmed, frustrated.

"Serenity is a way of rationalizing and attempting to carry on
  in spite of disappointments, aggravations, insults.

"Serenity is using spirituality as an escape, and at the
  same time making a virtue out of both serenity and escaping.

"Serenity when used as escape is a "numb-out",
  deliberately going unconscious,
  for self-protection,
  for self-defense,
  as a survival plan,
  which becomes an addiction
  and solution to difficulties in life,
  if things are not going well, if intentions are frustrated,
  not knowing how to handle something otherwise.
  Ironically one survives less well, while trying to survive
  better.  And it may still look like the best solution.
  Ironically again, one is inclined to use serenity as the
  solution to realizing one is surviving less well now.

"Serenity is used as a solution to problems,
  because no better solutions are seen at the time,
  or other solutions are judged to be too difficult
  or not applicable.

"Serenity is used as avoidance,
  non-confront,
  ignoring and
  neglect.

"Serenity can be used to punish others, to be cruel,
  to shut down communication, to "show them", to get one's way.

"Serenity can be used as a form of self-righteousness,
  to be "better than"
  to be "superior"
  to be "beyond that"
  to be "above that"
  or be "right",
  which result in separation and self-imposed alienation.

"Serenity is not wanting to deal with the world, with people.

"Serenity is a safe solution to not wanting to be experiencing
  emotions such as fear, grief, anger, etc.,
  to avoid feeling, to avoid life.

"One can judge oneself as "bad" for experiencing those emotions,
  does not want to see oneself as bad, so
  escapes or pops out to serenity, calls this a "leap of faith".

"Serenity can embrace life, engage with life,
  so serenity by itself is not a "crime".

"Other serenity is chosen to avoid life.

"The first is very survival on all dynamics,
  the other is non-survival.
