RI-537i 'The Right to Demand Awareness'

from Ambassador for Mankind (Ron's Inspector)

Message # RI-537i for Internet

It isn't GAINING more awareness,
 so much,
it is more a matter of
  not anymore being UNAWARE
of something or somebody, or of someone's intentions.

If the mental energy-output of others would be sound-waves,
 it would be like
standing right next to the airport's most used
   take-off- and landing-strip,
and wanting to enjoy a conversation
   with your best friend.

So what you do is
 - in the analogy when we suppose that mental energy equals sound -
you shut off your awareness of part of the scene:
You decide to not be aware of
   the thundering noise
   of the airplane-engines at take-off.

The noise is there,
but you decide to not be aware of it,
in order to enjoy life better,
  there at that place.

Now this is what you have been doing all the time
 with
  the unpleasantness,
  the ugliness,
  and the suppressive intentions
which are part of life and livingness.
(With this, you are also shutting out
a lot of enjoyable things and awareness of beauty,
but that is not the issue here.)

You have been doing this,
 - shutting off your awareness
of these very unpleasant things -
 and you are doing this,
in order to enjoy life better.

But in order to enjoy life BETTER,
 would it not be helpful
  to be aware, for instance,
  of
   whom you are talking with,
   whom you are marrying,
   who you choose as friends?

In order to enjoy life BETTER,
 would it not be helpful
  to know whether
  an area is contaminated
   with a contagious disease,
   or war,
   or radioactivity?

You have decided
 to not be aware of,
 to not see
a lot of ugliness and lies and mean behavior.

You can't
be aware of the very ugly things
 AND
enjoy life at the same time,
   because
    you find it distasteful, or
   because
you have the urge to handle ugliness or suppression
     whenever you see it, or
for probably a million other reasons.

You have to find
 some workable balance
  for yourself,
 and
 you have to find
  some workable balance
   for your friends and associates,
 of
what awareness you reasonably can demand of yourself, and
what awareness you reasonably can demand of another.

And there ARE certain
unpleasant things and evil lies and uglinesses
which you CAN demand of another
that he should recognize and handle.

You CAN demand of someone else
 to
not refuse to recognize lies about you, and to
not refuse to recognize hate or ugliness spread about you.

In other words,
you are entitled, you have a right,
  to demand of others
that they are aware of certain
   unpleasant and ugly things.

And of course you should demand of yourself as well,
to be aware of those things
  which diminish or destroy
   the joy of life
   for yourself and others.
