            RI-664i 'Recommended History Books'

from Ambassador for Mankind

Message # RI-664i for Internet

Both
 for the beginning,
as well as for the dyed-in-the-wool
  reader of history,
   I most strongly recommend
   the series
              "Treasures of the World"
               by Stonehenge Press, Inc.

These books were issued in the 1980's.

They are marvellously made, large pages
with very many beautiful photos and very clear maps.

They show the greatest pieces of art
collected by major rulers, kings, emperors or princes.

Each timeperiod and the character of some rulers
 is most brilliantly described,
  specially by the ability
to capture the time and the action
in amazingly short, yet completely informative essays.

A must for anybody interested in history
 and its 'dramatis personae'.

Each volume of the series covers
a country, its rulers and culture,
in a way I have not seen done better,
in a way which hardly could be done better in such short essays,
  and so abundantly beautiful.

The series has been translated into other languages
and is most likely available from your local library.
