RI-828i 'Koos Nolst Trenite personally visited'
from Ambassador for Mankind
Message # RI-828i for Internet
Here follows the account of someone
who personally visited me from America,
while he was an a business-trip to Germany.
"Dear Readers,
I have read many people comment about, wonder about and even speculate
about Koos and his family. But how many people have had the chance or
even the gumption to check them out personally? Who has met him
face-to-face? Discussed his philosophy in person? Watched Jutta in
session? Laughed with their kids? Ridden in their car? I guess I am one
of the brave and lucky few.
I was amazed and somewhat amused at one point to see people speculating
on the newsgroups about Koos' correct street address and phone number.
I had already been to his house twice and had called him by telephone
many times by the time that discussion came along. For example, I have
surprised them with a live opera singer on the phone for their birthdays.
And just the other day, I received an unclear phone message at work
that someone from Europe with a name that was explained as sounding like
"Christianity" called, so I called "Koos Trinity" and asked if that was
him. Noel answered the phone and knew it was me with only one word out
of my mouth. Then Koos got on the line and said he hadn't called me at
work, and it turned out to be a similar name of someone else in our
office over there. But we had a nice chat and caught up on old and new
times, in addition to giving a work-mate of mine a major thrill by
actually getting to talk to the legend himself on my phone!
Let's go back somewhat: In the summer of 1995, we had a terrible
lightning storm. Our neighbor's house two doors down from us was struck
and caught on fire. (The sound of such a close lightning strike is VERY
LOUD! The thunder EXPLODES LIKE A BOMB everywhere at once, instead of
rumbling off in any particular direction.) It was raining so hard that
it put out the road flares used by the police to keep cars from running
over the fire hoses. My own TV cable was fried and my sprinkler
controllers went haywire, turning on all of the circuits at once, so
our house probably got a small fork of lightning off of the main bolt.
Another neighbor said it looked like match heads were lit all over her
back lawn just before the bolt hit across the street from her. Elsewhere
in town, and boy and his dog were killed by the same storm while taking
a walk outside to watch it.
The next morning, I picked up the paper to read all about it and there
on the front page was another article mentioning newsgroups such as
alt.clearing.technology. I had just gotten onto the Internet and was
wanting to explore, so I checked it out. There I read many interesting
articles, but one particular author continued to stand out to me, Koos
Nolst Trenite. I looked forward to each of his new posts, and became
disappointed when there were none to be had on a given day.
I drifted back and forth, sometimes following that newsgroup, and
sometimes getting involved in my other activities and interests. But I
kept coming back to read Koos' latest works. I got to the point where I
would follow his threads and references on his web page archive for
hours at a time, night after night. I developed long lists of
RI-bulletin numbers that I had already read, and another list of those
I still wanted to read based on his references at the end of his
bulletins.
I thought (and still think) that his work and writings are among the
most fascinating things I have ever come across. They seem truthful to
me.
A little more than a year after starting this, I was so appreciative of
his very interesting work that I sent my first US $20 shareware check
to him. Soon afterwards, I began to correspond personally with him and
developed a very interesting friend in the process. I was glad to see
that he would answer me personally and we shared many interesting
conversations by e-mail, along with other members of his family
eventually.
Then suddenly last November (1996), I was asked to go to Germany on
short notice to help my company with a project for a few days. This
involved visiting the Electronica trade show in Munich. I went from
America to Europe a day early to rest and adjust my body-time, which I
did at "Trenite House" in Gaiganz, thanks to the graciousness of Koos,
Jutta, Freya and Noel. And also thanks to Germany's very impressive
train system (especially the ICE travelling at over 200 KPH on the way
to Nuremburg), and thanks to Germany's very impressive T-online
scheduling system, which the Trenite's have somehow integrated into one
of their phones at their house. Noel printed out train schedules and
connections and fares for me as necessary for planning my trip.
After a few days of work in Munich and the surrounding area (during
which it snowed beautifully!), I went back to Gaiganz for a couple more
evenings over the weekend. We ate dinner one night in a castle near
Erlangen, and went shopping the next day for gifts to take home to my
wife, kids and coworkers. We stayed up most of the nights talking about
everything and sleeping late into the day, thanks to the shading of the
insulation shutters the Germans close over their windows at night to
keep out the cold. The exception to this was the upstairs window in the
guest room where I stayed. It had a view of the trees and rolling hills
of Gaiganz. Looking out of the upstairs window at the moonless, barely
lit scene at 4 AM, warming up next to the radiator under the window, I
took in the wonder of it all. Such a change from America, from my
hometown vistas.
Koos was curious about various aspects of electronics, which is my
profession, so I spent about two hours explaining and diagraming quite
a few things from the fundamentals of chemistry, silicon crystals and
how to dope them, and making active devices into the analog and digital
electronic circuits that do so much of our work for us today. We got
very detailed and he took all of this in quite easily, and just for fun
I gave him a little test at the end which he passed perfectly. So he
checked out in the "ability to learn" department, quicker and with less
effort that I have ever seen. Nothing wiz-bang about it, just a calm,
pleasant conversation.
At the time, staying with him and his family seemed like such a natural
thing to do. Looking back on it now, it was an honor beyond nearly
anything else, and I've had many other amazing and unexpected honors in
my life to compare it to.
As I said, I have always found Koos' work to be absolutely fascinating,
as have many of my friends with whom I have shared it. Through his
work, you might wonder what he is really like to meet in person. He is
alert, kind, unassuming, gentle, patient, bright and friendly. Very
alive, loving, inviting and approachable. Anyone would feel comfortable
walking up and talking with him, and he would answer them. He has
friendly eyes and a pleasant expression on his face. He shows no
indication of living in the past nor of daydreaming nor of being
preoccupied or withdrawn. He's just there, he's just himself. He
doesn't expect anything of those around him. He doesn't worry about
anyone's behavior, because he expects people to behave around him.
He doesn't expect adulation, public or private.
He's just very comfortable to be with! Want to discuss something? Sure,
anything! I got the personal story from Freya about what happened to
their second daughter. This was a touching moment. She told me openly
and honestly and didn't get bothered over it but she still had to wipe
her eyes when she was done. They loved her a lot.
The entire family got into conversations with other people as we went
around town. In a restaurant one night, Koos struck up a conversation
with the couple at the next table in the main hall of the castle.
Ordinary "where you from?" and "how's your meal?" and "did you get the
pig [suckling], too?" type small talk without working anything more
into the conversation. Interestingly, both tables talked to each other
in English, except to clarify certain words with each other in German.
Jutta is also very pleasant. She made me a nice impromptu multi-course
dinner the first night I was there. They kept thinking I should go to
bed early because of the time difference so that my body could adjust,
after which they would cook and eat their real dinner, roast duck, they
had already purchased and planned. But I was too excited to be there
and we just kept talking, so Jutta kept bringing out a little more food
for me and everyone else. First the next morning's breakfast rolls and
meats, then another snack tray, then some fried steak, then a little
something else. By midnight, we were all stuffed. We called that dinner
for the evening.
Freya and Noel are the nicest teenagers you could hope to meet. Freya
is lively and intelligent. Noel is quietly intelligent but this is also
because he is the younger brother and Freya is so very outgoing. They
both have bright looks on their faces. Freya and Noel laugh and tease
each other like any other brother and sister (like my own kids do), and
as Koos has written, they are very well adjusted. When I first got off
the train with my luggage, I walked out right into them. Freya and Noel
said they saw me go by in the window when the train was slowing down,
so they walked over to my door as it was opening. They had only seen
one picture of me previously.
Later around the dining table, Freya had a list of issues and questions
from my previous e-mails that we would now be able to clarify. Having
things that well structured and discussing what was so interesting to
me made me feel like a celebrity at times. They showed me the
telepathic sessions they did on me before they would allow me into
their home to determine my motives and intentions. I asked whether I
would have been allowed to visit if my answers had been more negative.
They said that I would not have been, and there were others who were
not welcome. Had I not passed the test, I simply would have been told
to stay away.
This, of course, was a little bizarre, to see my most honest thoughts
written down on paper by someone else, but two things convinced me of
their authenticity: First, I remembered thinking about those things at
the time and dates recorded; actually, even more so in the hours
afterwards. Second, after thinking about this for a while, I came to
realize that this was how I really felt about things, more so than I
sometimes let myself realize. Seriously, if I really consciously
thought these things through, this was exactly how I felt. If I hadn't
thought about these things very closely, then I might not be so aware
of how I felt. Helping someone to think things through is one of the
benefits of this process. This was not a rationalization, but rather
really getting to the heart of the matter. Koos acknowledged that this
is how it works.
The other thing I was glad to see was such a validation of my
intentions. There were times when I wondered if I harbored some evil
intentions hidden even from myself. Apparently nothing serious enough
to interfere with our mutual goals. That was nice to see.
The Trenite's and I now share e-mails nearly every day. I am enjoying
my association with them and support them in their work. I wish them
success and they have my full support.
There are sometimes people on these newsgroups who will want to ask
the question: Do Koos and I ever disagree on anything? Sure, and then
we discuss it. We sometimes disagree on artistic preferences. We've had
a lot of discussions on particle physics, trying to sort out what
appears to be true through perception with light from what might more
likely be true from logic and insight, and figuring how that could be.
I find his notions interesting and give them serious consideration
because of my respect for his other works. I, too, have had some
training in physics and I know that some of his ideas fly in the face
of conventional thinking. And I think this is a good starting point for
discussion. There are certainly things wrong with today's scientific
theories, as any scientist can tell you. The eventual solution to these
will no doubt come as quite an unexpected surprise. Is the missing data
only in the details, or might it also be in the fundamental
assumptions? Usually some of our fundamental beliefs of science get
overturned. I think it is a good exercise to question these. Maybe
we'll even make progress more quickly by starting that far back in our
thinking.
We also discuss the motives of people in our lives, what they really
are, how to uncover them and how to help with them.
If we agreed on everything, what would there be to discuss? I mean, he
could teach me what he knows and I could teach him what I know and that
would be fun for a while and then it would be over. But life's not like
that. We all have our own perspective. And we discuss our perspectives
until we reach as much understanding as possible. Is that a
disagreement? Is that any reason to get nasty with each other?
No, but still it happens once in a while, as it will between friends.
But our friendship is stronger than a squabble and so we quickly work
it out. We sometimes even copy other friends on this so they can watch
the process of it and learn something by it. We are, as they say, only
human (meaning imperfect beings), and life is a team event.
Which brings me back to the following subject. It amazes me that Koos
continues to put up with the sometimes nastiness of these newsgroups.
But he seems to feel that deserting you would be betrayal, plus I and
others found Koos through these newsgroups, even though we chose not
to become involved with them at the time.
No, I don't hang out on these newsgroups much, but occasionally I do
check them out. Based on the nastiness I read, I'll bet that some
people would be surprised to see that Koos has this much support out
there that you didn't know about. Just speaking for myself, many of my
family, neighbors, co-workers and Internet friends around the world
find it all very interesting. And we pretty much don't bother with
these newsgroups. Some of us are on other news or mail groups for our
other interests, and still make the time to read Koos' work and write
to him about it. And sometimes, we call up on the phone just to say hi,
or even travel overseas to stop by for a visit.
There's nothing scary about it at all. He and his family are just our
very good friends, as with anyone else. And they are certainly very
interesting and special to us! We are very thankful to know them, and
thankful that Koos is leading this effort to benefit Mankind, as it
seems like the right thing to do.
Thanks to Noel's suggestion the other day, we are now discussing a
summer family vacation in Germany. I wrote back to ask if he had talked
with his parents about this. The other day on the phone, Koos said, "By
the way, the parents approve!"
Some of my friends now also correspond with and support Koos, and many
more enjoy reading his latest bulletins. Our friendship has been a good
experience for me, and I have become a better person through knowing
him.
Blair"
We all enjoyed Blair's visit immensely,
and we are thoroughly looking forward
to Blair - this time with his whole family -
coming over to visit us again in the Summer.
