The first thing is
to establish Affinity, spiritual liking that is,
with oneself, with others and with one's environment,
and
to keep up that Affinity or spiritual liking
NO MATTER WHAT REALITY ONE ENCOUNTERS
IN ONESELF, IN OTHERS, AND IN ONE's ENVIRONMENT
AS A RESULT OF ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING (KEEPING UP)
ONE's AFFINITY
FOR ONESELF, FOR OTHERS AND FOR ONE's ENVIRONMENT,
NO MATTER WHAT COMMUNICATION ONE GETS
FROM ONESELF, FROM OTHERS, AND FROM ONE's ENVIRONMENT
AS A RESULT OF ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING (KEEPING UP)
ONE's COMMUNICATION
WITH ONESELF, WITH OTHERS AND WITH ONE's ENVIRONMENT,
NO MATTER WHAT CORRECT OR FALSE UNDERSTANDING ONE ENCOUNTERS
ABOUT OR FROM ONESELF, ABOUT OR FROM OTHERS, AND
ABOUT OR FROM ONE's ENVIRONMENT
AS A RESULT OF ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING (KEEPING UP)
ONE's UNDERSTANDING
ABOUT ONESELF, ABOUT OTHERS AND ABOUT ONE's ENVIRONMENT.
The ability and willingness
to generate and maintain that kind of Affinity or spiritual liking
for oneself, for others, and for one's environment,
is what describes the first step.
WITHOUT such a kind of spiritual liking
for oneself and for others and for one's environment,
one travels the path of spiritual death
- which we don't want to travel and
which we don't want others to enforce on us either.
The usual sequence is
to establish and maintain
Affinity for ONE's ENVIRONMENT (with the above described
'no matter what is there or what happens' present),
then
to establish and maintain
Affinity for OTHERS (with the above described
'no matter what is there or what happens' present),
and then
to establish and maintain
Affinity for ONESELF (with the above described
'no matter what is there or what happens' present).
Usually, one cycles through that:
Increase Affinity for one's environment,
increase Affinity for others,
increase Affinity for oneself,
again
increase Affinity for one's environment,
increase Affinity for others,
etc.
The environment is a reference-point,
that is why one takes it first.
It is a stable point, it provides a 'NOW'.
It is easily observable for most people.
You can and should establish
what is happening NOW,
what thoughts and intentions are there NOW,
and then you can relate the past to that reference point.
Some people start at
generating and maintaining Affinity for themselves
- and leave off there.
These people are easily recognized.
Some people only
generate and maintain Affinity for their environment,
and become fixed on possessions, as if that is the game of life.
They are considered "successful people", by some.
Some people stay at
generating and maintaining Affinity for others,
and they may become Saints.
But there is more to life than that.
We want to generate and maintain
this special kind of Affinity (with the above described
'no matter what is there or what happens' present),
for all three of these things:
For oneself AND for others AND for one's environment.
And that is only the FIRST STEP.
This first step is necessary, it is vital
because
without it one goes into the path of
"living successfully" at the expense of life,
without it one follows the path of
fascism, dictatorship, domination and finally spiritual death,
no matter how "successfully" one lives.
Now, why does love hurt?
Here we get the other factors that are missing.
When love or Affinity, spiritual liking,
hurts,
Reality is
missing or
too much off and away
from what is really there, and
Communication is
missing or
far too little, and
Understanding is
missing or
considerably lacking and
perverted or
misdirected.
But with the first step you have achieved
to maintain Affinity
no matter what is there, and
to maintain Affinity, spiritual liking,
despite
all attempts to inhibit and betray your Affinity and
despite
"reasons"
that you have agreed with
to make it normal (or an automatic response)
to withdraw your Affinity from a part of life or from some person.
The SECOND step is
to generate and maintain - while maintaining Affinity -
the curiosity TO FIND OUT
Realities about yourself, about others, about your environment.
NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF
YOUR CURIOSITY AND DISCOVERY.
And Reality means here
spiritual Reality of what is there,
a Reality also when it is hidden, and not agreed upon,
but ANYTHING THAT IS THERE:
Whether visible,
thought,
wanted,
intended and done or not,
and especially when hidden.
Realities about yourself hidden from you by others,
Realities (both the good ones and the not so good ones)
about yourself hidden from you by yourself.
The same thing about your Reality of others.
The same thing about your Reality of your environment.
The next (THIRD) step is
to generate and maintain Communication
with yourself (with your abilities, for instance
but also, not less importantly, with your disabilities), and
with others, and
with your environment.
And this again
NO MATTER WHAT YOU SEE AND
NO MATTER WHAT EFFORTS YOU MEET OF OTHERS
TO BLIND YOUR SIGHT AND EFFORTS OF OTHERS
TO DESTROY THE COMMUNICATION OF YOUR OBSERVATIONS.
And when one has mastered these steps,
one is on a higher level of life
- AND HOW HIGH, THAT IS ENTIRELY DEPENDING, of course, ON
WHERE (ON WHAT LEVEL OF LIFE) ONE STARTED OFF.
(Some 'perfectly normal' people
are below an awareness
that there EXISTS such a thing as spiritual liking.
They cannot recognize it
when someone has spiritual liking of Affinity for them.
It is not even a desirable quality for them
because such a thing 'does not exist'
in their world of experience,
in their present state.)
Now, from a higher level,
one again does the Affinity step,
then the Reality step,
then the Communication step.
And one becomes more and more a Master of Life.
Now, HOW one best carries out these steps,
what TOOLS one uses for it,
that's a matter of taste, of culture,
of education and of level of civilization.
One can do the three steps
of Affinity, Reality, Communication,
and then again do them on a higher level,
one can do them in ANY culture,
on ANY level of education or civilization.
One does not even have to be able to read and write to do it.
I wrote down a few tools
that can assist the Mastery of life,
and they can be found in the Library.
But they are just tools.
Others prefer or are educated in
or have already gained confidence in
THEIR use of other tools,
and they can use those tools
to do the steps of the Master Path of Life.

Additional Note One:
Sometimes someone tries to bump you off the path,
and he succeeds temporarily to break you down.
You just pick up again
FROM THE LEVEL YOU DROPPED DOWN TO,
and you work yourself up again.
Or in case you are assisting someone else,
you get him to look and see
WHAT LEVEL HE DROPPED DOWN TO,
because he will have to start
from his ACTUAL level of Affinity
for himself, for others and for his environment,
from his ACTUAL level of Reality
about his present state, and the present state of others,
and the present state of his environment,
IN ORDER TO GET BACK UP.
When one takes it up from a pretended high level,
(and the same applies to a pretended low level)
one won't stably get back up,
but have only short-lived high-ups, and long-lived deep-downs.
Additional Note Two:
I don't want to say that I am very high on this Path,
but I am probably higher than many of you
on the first step of maintaining
Affinity for all that is there no matter what is there,
and I am working very hard since 30 years
on increasing my Reality
about all the mind-baffling things that are there in people,
and I am slowly picking up again on Communication.
